Bill Wechter rarely leaves his camera at home. For Bill, taking photographs is a lifestyle
and a passion and one can see it in his work.
"Pictures happen all the time and at all times of the day. You are bound by those circumstances.
You can't make photographs happen when you want them. You've gotta make them when
they happen.".
Bill has been a photojournalist for over twenty years and is currently a staff photographer
for the North County Times. Over the past few years his personal photography has
grown and diversified. As a 1982 graduate of the University of New Mexico he was
drawn to the open landscape of the Southwest and his work reflected its mysterious
vastness. More recently Bill has enjoyed photographing the magnificent San Diego
coastline and local wildlife. He has also traveled to Hawaii, Cuba, Haiti, and
New York City (post September 11th) where he has captured the essence of the cultural
and natural environments. His work has been exhibited in galleries in San Diego
and New York City.
Wechter gradually moved to California from his home town of Northport, NY and resides
in Solana Beach.
Each photograph is meticulously put together in Wechter's Solana Beach studio using
archival matting materials. The images are printed using the latest in digital inkjet printing technology
with the highest quality archival inks and paper. When you display your photograph please keep it behind glass and out of direct sunlight to ensure against fading or discoloration. When
kept under these conditions your piece will last a lifetime.
